Dear Community,
We have been long overdue for a news release,
so firstly, a big apology is owed to you! Hopefully you can appreciate that this news announcement has really eaten up our time, because we had to concentrate on internal progress as priority.
We have been and continue to be aware that we have an eager fan base eagerly awaiting this game, but we had to wait for the right time to communicate this news.
Tactical Assault is no more…But don’t worry…
Because Dominating Studios presents to you...
Critical Point: IncursionYes! You got it - we have not folded under the severe pressure on our shoulders and thrown in the towel...
oh no! We will not die! Some of you were probably mid-sentence writing “I told you so”, weren't you?
Our ambition and hunger to make this game is stronger than ever!Note: If you still see the old "Tactical Assault" page, please clear your browser cache.
So you are probably wondering,
“OMG why?!”
“What?!”
“I liked the name Tactical Assault!”
“So what happens next?”
...and many other questions. So allow us to try to answer them for you!.
Why the name change?Firstly, Tactical Assault was a name familiar with many and often associated (wrongly) with the legendary game Tactical Operations: Assault on Terror (TO:AoT). This is wrong and we do not want to give this false impression.
Secondly, to prevent possible legal issues arising in the future due to using Infogrames' intellectual property, we decided that this was the best time to change our brand and set us aside, as our own games company, making our own game - Critical Point: Incursion.
What does that mean?It means that
CP:I is our new brand, and that Tactical Assault is ditched and it is a thing of the past.
We know many of you (and our developers) come from the TO scene, and yes, certain aspects of our game may be deemed similar, however, we are a team making our own game, a modernised version, under our own unique name.
What happens to CP:I?Regarding the game's development, nothing has changed! We are chugging away as usual, and have made huge leaps in the last few months!
What can we expect in the future? As we are still an indie team, we remind you that we are doing this in our free time without pay, with the majority of us working full time jobs. So it’s difficult and will remain so to give accurate deadlines that we can promise to achieve. This was a problem in the past and not something we will repeat.
We assure you that this game will be released, but when - we do not know ourselves. So don't ask. When we know, you will know.
What we can promise isOur team is striving on a daily basis to invest several hours into CP:I, working our butts off to bring you
Incursion, which will be a solid, semi-realistic action first person shooter game!
We will continue as in the past to give you a good show of direct communication, via our twitter and facebook feeds – forum liaison, however there will be less "front page" full blown out media releases, because we have to knuckle down and invest our time into the actual development of this game.
Why “Critical Point: Incursion”?Why not? Okay, seriously now... it sounds awesome. That’s why. Obvious, right?
We had a huge team pool of names, hundreds infact, and we had to narrow those down to those that did not conflict with games already on the market with similar or exact names, availability of domains (heh.. marketing!) and other key factors.
Huh... I read somewhere that CP:I is linked with Dominating Studios, who are they...?Okay, so amongst the rebranding of our game product we took the opportunity to give our team a professional name, because we wanted to be taken more seriously as a game studio!
www.DominatingStudios.com So who is this team? Get to the point! The team is exactly the same as before. We are still an indie team, no buyouts, no payments, nothing!
Okay, then why Dominating Studios? I mean it sounds unbelievably great!Well you answered your own question yourself, it sounds awesome!
It’s a perfect match for our team; it suits many of our history and the good ol’ days of “Headshot” and “Dominating” sound announcers in games, and has a cunning double meaning of a “leading” and “controlling” studio.
About Dominating StudiosDominating Studios was founded by Kristian Lake (aka TOP-Proto) and Matt Murdoch (aka aRny) in February 2012.
We are very passionate about games, both coming from a competitive background going back since 1999 playing Quake, UT Instagib, Tactical Operations and a lot more first person shooter games both for clans and our national teams.
Our paths both led us into heading down the road of community modifications, where Kristian programmed and created his own addons and mods for games such as Goldeneye. Matt on the other hand was involved in the Tactical Operations 3.5 community patch and a core member of the ESE and TOST anti-cheat team.
Our journey saw us both come together in 2009 where we have since been working on Critical Point: Incursion (previously known as codename: Tactical Assault which many of you may be familiar with).
Working in our free time we have put together a fantastic international team of volunteers, an indie team determined to see our vision of owning a games company come reality soon!
